Dr. Shirley Dinkel, is nationally certified as a family and adult nurse practitioner. For 20+ years, her NP practice has focused on care of vulnerable populations. She has been a nurse educator since 1991 and is the Director of the DNP Program at WU. As a fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, she is nationally recognized for her leadership in NP education and practice. Dr. Dinkel currently leads the Classroom to Community (C2C) grant project which has created a dynamic partnership with key community entities and established a primary care clinic located within the Topeka public housing community.
Presenting at the Nexus Summit:
The Classroom to Community (C2C) is a National Center Accelerating Interprofessional Community-based Education practice project. Their workshop, an Opportunity to Join in Action is designed to demonstrate strategies and opportunities for leadership and multi-directional mentoring utilizing Community-Based Participatory Research methods and principles of interprofessional communication to co-create meaningful change in their own communities.
