Journal of Interprofessional Education & Practice provides a forum for innovative ideas for interprofessional educators and practitioners through peer-reviewed articles and reports. Founded in 2015, the journal welcomes unsolicited manuscripts related to education, healthcare policy, practice, or research.

Topics covered will include how to structure an article, areas of emphasis, author guidelines and common pitfalls and pearls based on the presenters' collective experiences.

Participants will work together to complete exercises demonstrating dos and don'ts of study design and manuscript preparation.

The exercises will address subjects including writing style, outlining the theoretical basis for a study, managing word count, and formatting citations.

Participants in this workshop will:

  • Become familiar with the aims and scope of the Journal of Interprofessional practice, and its review and submission process (knowledge)
  • Describe common pitfalls and pearls related to manuscript preparation (practical skills)
  • Practice preparing portions of a hypothetical manuscript to maximize its acceptance chances by working in a small group to develop, refine, and critique manuscript examples (practical skills)

Active learning strategies employed will include interactive discussion, in-session writing, case studies, and peer critique.
