Victoria Hornyak, PT, DPT, GCS,  is Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. She is the Director of the inaugural Interprofessional Dedicated Education Unit for Pitt/UPMC, and serves on the University’s Working Group on Interprofessional Education. Dr. Hornyak is board-certified in Geriatrics and her academic interests are  interprofessional education and the use of simulation in physical therapist education.

Presenting at the Nexus Summit:
Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and the MGH Institute of Health Professions (IHP) have developed innovative interprofessional clinical education environments called Interprofessional Dedicated Education Units (IPDEUs). Health professional students rotate through hospital-based IPDEUs guided by Interprofessional Practice Instructors (IPIs) with the specific intent of learning the principles of interprofessional practice through active observation, modeling and robust facilitation and debriefing.
