How to Evaluate Programs Designed to Strengthen Interprofessional Teamwork Capacity and Performance [Short Course D]

Sunday, July 29, 2018, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

This workshop takes a deep dive into the fifth and final “Practical Guide” in the series launched in 2017 by the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education, providing a value-added catalyst for its practical application. This Guide helps provide guidance for evaluating programs designed to strengthen teamwork capacity and performance. In this workshop, principles of evaluation are taught through didactics, examples, and experiential exercises rooted in real-world examples.  Participants will be mentored through the use of these exercises in application to their own projects, developing real-world skills. Participants will access resources on the Center’s “Assessment and Evaluation” website and design their own evaluation.

Learning Objectives

The overall goal is to help participants draft a new evaluation plan, or to strengthen an existing plan for evaluating their own IPECP program.  Specifically, by the end of the course, participants will be to able to:

  • Refine their program rationale, logic model, and quiding evaluation questions
  • Apply new skills for using qualitative or quantitative methods to collect and analyze data
  • Use strategies for managing the political and logistical aspects of implementing an evaluation plan
  • Incorporate best practices in “making sense” of evaluation results

Who Will Benefit

The workshop is designed for participants at an advanced beginner/intermediate level of familiarity with measurement principles and assessment
