Hitting the IPE Accreditation Target From Multiple Directions

Sunday, Jul 29, 2018, 4:15 pm - 5:45 pm

Increasingly health profession accreditation organizations are requiring educational programs to document meeting standards related to interprofessional education and collaborative practice in their didactic and clinical curriculum requirements. MIPERC partners from various institutions and programs will present how they meet unique professional requirements to address accreditation standards for interprofessional education. Accreditation standards vary by health profession, and educational programs are responding creatively and inter- and intradisciplinarily to build IPE into their curricula.  Traditionally, programs have satisfied accreditation requirements within their own professions and independent of other disciplinary programs. Participants will discuss how collaborative IPE curriculum content and assessment data are being used by the participating programs to meet diverse accreditation requirements.

Workshop objectives include:

  • Analyze IPE assessment tools using the NEXUS, core data set measures;
  • Analyze how the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) domain and core competencies/sub-competencies align with curricular activities and assessments within participants’ programs;
  • Document how each participant’s program is meeting IPE accreditation requirements through assessments and other measurements; and
  • Recommend practical methods for structuring and evaluating an IPE environment.Active learning will include small group discussion and reflection with large group feedback and discussion.
